5.1 Transformers

Transformers for Tesla coils (other than solid-state or vacuum tube type) are usually one of the following types:

OBIT - Oil burner ignition transformers
MOT - Microwave oven transformers
NST - Neon sign transformers
PT - Potential transformers
PIG - Distribution transformers
X-RAY - X-Ray machine transformer

Ballasts - Ballasting non current-limited transformers



Solid-state and vacuum tube coils each require transformers that are suited to the independant design and will be discussed in their sections.
