Especially if you house looks like an electronics scrap yard like mine. :-) Nothing is critical. Feel free to improvise as you wish. Note 1 - The torque these motors produce is inversly proportional to their RPM. They are available in 1, 2, 6, 10 and other RPMs. The 10 is good for thinner coils with fine wire. You would want a 2 RPM for large diameter coils with thicker wire. I also have a 1 RPM but have not tried it yet. Hardware - your local hardware store. Both can send you a catalog requested over the web in a few days. They are fast and reliable. I have been ordering from both for years with no problems. I have the data included with the stepper motors and controller board. Send me your snail mail address and I will send you a copy (free). It is possible to use the computer's printer port and some driver transistors to control the stepper without the controller board (saves $80) but you will have to figure the interface out yourself. the software would also have to be changed for this.
