This is an ordinary 6" clear decorative light bulb being tormented by the spark of the improved junk box coil. Power level is 1080VA. This was a time exposure using a 35mm range finder camera on a tripod. The light bulb is taped to a length of 1" plastic pipe so that I can hold it near the discharge terminal without getting zapped. I've also attached a pair of bare copper wire whiskers to the base of the bulb to attract the sparks. I don't want the sparks striking the glass envelope directly. The danger of implosion is remote, but I don't care to risk it.
