The SparkyCycle Project

The SparkyCycle is an electric motorcycle built from a Yamaha 400 that had a blown engine. I stole the idea from a friend of mine, Dan Conine, who made one from a dirt bike.

The original engine was used for gearing and clutch, but the crankshaft was replaced with an electric motor for power. The jugs and tank were replaced with a car battery.

The concept works well, however, the motor I used was too underpowered, and the bike to heavy. I've since swapped out the motor for a 8HP gas motor I picked up at a garage sale - makes for an interesting "scooter".
