In addition to my previous post, I have just visited John's site: http://hometown.aol.com/futuret/page1.html Seems to me that the toroid isn't exactly toroid (in a geometrical sense ). I might be wrong easily here but this estimation per see. However its surface is very smooth indeed. Top of the coil has also corona ring small toroid.
