Of course, the other explanation for the difference between north/tssp and AIEE would be that north/tssp calcs don't account for the increased surface field required for a positive electrode, and that this makes more difference as the gap/radius ratio increases. Or maybe these two effects are happening together, or maybe it is the same thing by two descriptions. Assuming space charge is predominantly positive ions, we'd expect the positive terminal to shield itself in this way far more than the negative terminal. Let's hope we can find some definate sign of space charge forming on oltc ahead of the observed breakout. -- Paul Nicholson, --
