Tesla Coil Control Panel
New Control Panel
This is my new control panel. It houses a 20A variac, contactor, some line filters,
meters, fan, etc. The really cool thing is the remote "Deadman" switch.
It's even lighted! I never knew how big of a kick that people get out of
pressing the button and making the coil do it's thing. The box was fabricated out of
1/8" aluminum and is basically built like a brickhouse! The
covered toggle switch acts as an override to the deadman in case I need to lock
the contactor in for some reason.
Here is a schematic of what is inside of the power controller.
Original Control Panel
The purpose of the control panel is to interface
the coil with the house 120VAC supply. Notice that I am using 2 CORCOM
RFI/TVI filters in the circuit; one is right after the 30A contactor and the other is
between the 10A variac and NSTs. I am
using 10 and 12 guage wire to handle the high currents that will be required as I add more
NSTs to the bank.
